FULL DESCRIPTION
This drill guide is manufactured from ABS thermoplastic, a material commonly used for injection moulding applications where structural strength and stiffness are required. The drill guide is truly portable and offers the accuracy and control achieved with a drill press combined with the added benefit of being able to drill at any angle between -45° and 45°. The guide can easily be set up to drill perfectly true perpendicular holes. You can alter the drilling angle by releasing the two star knobs and then positioning accordingly using the calibrated scale, the angle is then securely locked off to ensure it will not change during use.

As all the main components are manufactured from ABS the unit is durable and hardwearing as well as being very stable during use. The head slides up and down on two steel bars and features a depth stop for repetitive boring. The base has anchor pins which can be used to stop the guide sliding on your workpiece during use. It also features a V groove for drilling round stock to stop it from rolling away from the bit.

The guide contains a 10mm capacity chuck and is supplied with a chuck key, the chuck is smooth to operate and provides a secure hold. The base aperture will accept drill bits and hole cutters up to 60mm in diameter. It will allow you to drill highly accurate holes at varying depths and angles without the need for a drill press. ©

Great bit of kit

Very sturdy, reasonable price and so match better than little individual size drill guides I already have!

Great quality for the value

It’s very well machined and put together for the the price you pay. For occasional use it’s a great tool to have in the arsenal. The angle adjustment is a little clunky and being all black can be quite tricky to see if adjusting in low light , some white markers might have been better , but that said , it’s robust. In the vertical drill mode , my large Makita combi with its 5ah battery is balanced when in the vertical , which makes aligning and working much easier .

Great tool.

Very good drill guide

I had a job coming up where I needed to drill a lot of holes at a precise angle so that’s the reason I purchased. The guide is a good solid piece of kit I found it accurate and it done the job well. I had to loosen it up a bit as it was a little stiff to start with I used a little silicone spray on the sliders and it performed great. My only gripe is it’s hard to see the angle number’s being black against the lining up marks would be better if they were white or red but apart from that I’m pleased that I purchased it

Why didn't I get one of these earlier?

For the last 20 years I have had no sight in my one eye. Correspondingly for 20 years I've never drilled a hole that was perpendicular to the workpiece. I've made quite a few purchases of Rutlands tools over the past year and am really very impressed with the quality and value for money of everything thus far. Despite this being the cheaper of the 2 guides available, once again the quality is top notch. It easily attaches to my cordless drill on site and I can now drill at whatever angle I choose, especially 90°. I would agree with Bobs review about the angle stops and the writing being hard to see, but all in all I'm a very happy man.

No more non-vertical holes!

Brilliant bit of kit. I often drill pilot holes through fairly thick timber, and getting the exit hole aligned with the entry point is a bit tricky. This guide eliminates any errors. The only (small) improvement I'd suggest would be the addition of positive stops at each angle. The black pointer against the black markers isn't that easy to line up. But maybe it's just my aging eyesight!
