Made in Germany, the blades on these carving tools are made from a premium quality, hand forged chrome vanadium tool steel, which has high resistance to metal fatigue and will last a lifetime if given normal care when relief or round carving. Each blade is hardened to Rc61 along its entire length, resulting in a blade that will hold and retain a sharp, fine edge, over the life of the tool, without becoming brittle when sharpened. The blades are finely polished to achieve a mirror finish to minimise friction when roughing out or adding fine detail. The blade and tang are forged from one piece of steel, which is seated deeply into the chisel handle for strength and durability. The tools are fully honed and ready for use or you can add your preferred bevel angle by further grinding.

The handles are made from slow growing beech selected for its straight grain and strength. The octagonal shape ensures a secure, comfortable grip and prevents the tools rolling on the bench. Every handle is permanently engraved with the blade's pattern number and size for easy identification. The tools measure approximately 240mm overall in length with a handle length of 130mm.

This 12 piece set was developed in consultation with professional carvers for both relief and round carving and is ideal for both beginners and intermediate wood carvers. The set is beautifully presented in a canvas roll with each carving tool having its own location to prevent movement and to protect the blades. The set includes #1 straight chisel 8mm, #1s skew chisel 8mm, #5 gouge 8mm and 20mm, #7 gouge 6 and 14mm, #7L heavy bent gouge 20mm, #8 gouge 4mm, #8a spoon gouge 10mm, #9 gouge 10mm, #11 veiner 3mm and #12 parting tool 6mm. ©

Beautiful set of carving chisels

Absolute joy to use these chisels, they are very well made and really hold an edge.

Qualtiy German made tools in a nicely designed roll at a great price...

Brilliant quality tools at an unbelievable price, and better yet, not made in China, German made, quality made, and beautifully packed, the roll and all the attention to detail, protective caps for each tool and each tool arriving wrapped in a clear plastic sleeve and inside a well thought out and designed roll. My only wish is that the roll had a few extra places for some of my other carving tools. It's also a great selection and a welcome addition to my other tools. I know I'll get good mileage out of these.

Well worth the money

Purchasing these carving tools has to be one of the best decisions I have made of recent times. As a beginner carver, I have limited knowledge and experience with carving tools so I chose this complete set to get me started. These are incredible! Extremely sharp and ready to use out of the box. Hopefully after watching a few more youtube videos, I will be a pro. Thank you Rutlands.

Carving Tool Set of 12

I'm new to carving and bought this set after a lot of research. I promised my grandaughter I'd carve her a Reindeer from some oak logs. So we are going to do this project together this new year. As I don't know how much use I will get out of these once the project is finished, price was important. I wanted good quality tools, that I can sharpen myself that will do the job in hand and maybe some more creative work. As I've used Rutlands before, and know their quality, I chose these with confidence that the quality would be good and the price is very reasonable. They arrived sharp enough to work out the box and the tool roll is excellent. Overall I'm happy I made the right choice, really good quality and didn't break the bank.

Excellent carving tools
