The bits are back tapered from the cutting edge to minimise friction and prevent binding and have been fully ground to give precise concentricity to ensure a highly accurate hole. The deep flutes are polished to allow fast chip clearance, preventing the build up of swarf in the flutes, resulting in smooth, scorch-free side walls. M2 high speed steel is extremely hard wearing and retains its hardness over prolonged use, resulting in a bit that will not deform and which will always keep the same cutting geometry over its lifetime. After hardening these bits are tempered to reduce brittleness and increase ductility and toughness, staying sharp 10 times longer than carbon steel brad point bits.
This set contains 8 metric bits ranging from 3mm to 10mm in 1mm increments 3mm, 4mm, 5mm, 6mm, 7mm, 8mm, 9mm, 10mm and is supplied in a bespoke wooden presentation box. The bits are certified to ensure the dimensional accuracy of the hole. ©

This is the second Brad drill bit set I have purchased from Rutlands. The first 8 bit set I’ve had for over a year and been impressed with, so when I needed a more comprehensive set it was a no brainier. A good quality accessory at a reasonable price.
Looking at brad point bits for woodworking, initially was looking at a german brand with fewer bits for more money, have a couple of Rutland router bits so figured they woulld be good. They are super sharp and go through wood like a hot knife through butter. Handle with care however as I have twice knicked myself they are that sharp. Would buy again
Excellent quality good quality holes with no tearout
I’ve had quite a few drillbits over the years and these are the first ones I’ve had with a proper pointed tip! I wished I’d have them years ago. I now feel confident when I put the drill and bit onto the wood, it’s not going to slip and slide. They also came in a lovely wooden box, each bit into foam, hence easy to find and access!
As with some of these other reviews, I’d been making do with hss bits for years as I’d only had rubbish brad point drill bits in the past, so was always quite frustrated with how clean the hole never was. The fairly aggressive cutting profile on these bits means you end up with a clean hole on entry an exit pretty easily so I’d definitely recommend them
