FULL DESCRIPTION

This carving vice is fully adjustable in three dimensions which is a must for all good carver’s vices. The vice has a revolving steel faceplate and a fully pivoting support arm to give all around access to your workpiece. There is also an impressive 170mm of height adjustment which allows you to work comfortably on larger pieces. The body is constructed of strong steel box-section, finished in a durable powder coating to prevent rust and corrosion.

The heavy, all steel faceplate absorbs the impact and vibrations whilst working, allowing for precise and controlled carving. The large, 100mm diameter plate contains an arrangement of 10 fixing holes, positioned 30mm, 35mm and 45mm from the centre. These fixing holes are countersunk on the rear of the faceplate to accommodate woodscrews, allowing for carving blanks of all shapes and sizes to be attached securely. Smooth 360° rotation of the faceplate allows easy access to all sides of your work. There are two locking pins on the underside of the faceplate that lock against the clamp body, providing extra support when heavy blows are needed for initial roughing out work.

The vice can be clamped onto workbenches or surfaces up to 100mm thick with the 40mm wide jaws, with the pivot handle allowing strong, stable clamping force to be exerted easily. The clamping feature on this carving vice allows it to be quickly and easily moved, allowing you to choose exactly where to work within your workshop. ©

Nice and sturdy and well designed...

Nice and sturdy and well designed. Needs more holes to allow small pieces to be attached. Having said that, extra hole points are marked and drilling was easy.The alternative would be to sell smaller heads.

I bought this with no expectations, and when it arrived I was well impressed.Extremely well made and it weighs a ton, certainly built to last a lifetime. It adjusts every which way and I think for the price, it's an outstanding piece of kit.I drilled a few more holes in the mounting plate to enable the fixing of smaller items, which now makes this vice perfect.

I'm very pleased with my carving vise, it is very sturdy and well put together. Being able to clamp it to a work surface means I can use it in my shed or outside fastened to my workmate. I find it much easier to move the piece I'm working on a good purchase. I would recommend it to any carver.

Being new to carving I was unsure how useful a car...

Being new to carving I was unsure how useful a carvers vice would be. An experienced carver encouraged me to get one but admitted that at nearly £100 his was a bit of an investment.What a game changer. Being able to adjust the work piece to any angle makes life so much easier and allows for quicker and better results.If you are thinking of carving or have tried it and been frustrated then get one of these, it is as essential as a good chisel.P.S. the experienced carving friend likes the ability to move the vice around far more than his bolted to the bench version.

What i like about this vice is the two pegs that l...

What i like about this vice is the two pegs that lock against the main frame to prevent the circular base from rotating when you are initially roughing out your carving. My old vice did not have this facility and when ever you exerted pressure the carving would slip and you would have to reposition. Excellent design and great in use.
