Designed for the expansive Rutlands® guide rail system, these parallel guides simplify rip cuts, using two adjustable flip stops which butt up against the edge of the workpiece to physically ensure each cut is parallel and the same width as the one before. Requiring no measuring, marking or calculations, these guides attach tool-free to an existing guide rail to allow faster, more accurate and consistent rip cuts up to 610mm in width.
Setup is simple; secure an existing guide rail to the workpiece using guide rail clamps and make a small, 30mm cut starting from the edge of the board. The first parallel guide is then fixed to guide rail, close to the resulting cut, and the flip stop arm with its locating disc is dropped down into the cut line. The flip stop is pushed as far right as the locating disc will allow and then locked in placed using the Bristol locking lever. The two knurled brass knobs are then released to allow the scale pointer to be set to zero, calibrating the parallel guide with your saw blade. Unscrew the locating disc, re-attach it on the opposite side and setup is complete. This process is then repeated for the second parallel guide.
Once calibrated, simply slide the flip stops to the desired width of cut, laser etched in millimetres on the stainless steel rule, and lock firmly in place. The edges of the flip stops are then butted up against the edge of the workpiece, ensuring that both parallel guides are situated as far apart as possible along the length of the board. Support rods on the underside of each parallel guide are quickly positioned to ensure the guides are kept level with the guide rail and do not tilt downwards. With the guide rail positioned, it can then be securely clamped in place and the two parallel guides removed. For use with the R9501 Rutlands® 1400mm Guide Rail (supplied separately). Use in combination with the Rutlands® R9512 Guide Rail Square Attachment for the ability to produce square and parallel cuts in a single operation. ©
