FULL DESCRIPTION

This scroll saw has excellent vibration dampening properties, which combined with the twin pivot arm mechanism, results in a very smooth, controllable and clean cut. The electronic variable stroke rate of 550 to 1600 strokes per minute allows you to cut intricate shapes in a wide range of materials including hard and soft woods, plastics and non-ferrous metals.

The scroll saw has a quiet running, yet powerful 125W motor, which will comfortably cope with depth of cut of up to 50mm. The heavy duty base is made from cast iron, ensuring minimal vibration, and the worktable is machined from cast aluminium and tilts through 45° for bevel and mitre cuts. The table offers excellent workpiece stability, measuring 414mm in length by 254mm in width, and the saw features a generous throat depth of 406mm for larger projects. The motor powers a bellow that blows air directly onto the point of cut, ensuring excellent visibility when following a pencil line.

The 35mm diameter dust port is positioned to draw dust directly from the cutting line when coupled to a workshop vacuum or dust collector. The flexible LED work light provides excellent visibility and can be twisted and bent for optimum positioning. This scroll saw accepts both pinned and plain end blades, and blade changes are made quickly and easily using the quick release tension lever. ©

Guitar making

Wanted something to cut the headstocks out and other small pieces which my band saw has problems with. The unit is well made for the price and the only difference I can see apart from the colour is this one says it has a 90 watt motor and the one on Axminster tools has a 125 watt. For what I am wanting it for this should be more than up for the job and it comes with a handy light. I have tried it on 22mm ply and it cuts cleanly and square. The speed control is very good and does what it is ment to. At slow speed it's fine and controllable but at max speed you really need to hold onto things. Can be used with both plane and pin blades with the first having a guage on top of the machine to set you blade length. Very well made machine for the price and also comes with a Dremel attachment on the side. I think if you want a light weight machine with out spending mega money and the motor has enough power for you then you really can't go wrong, If on the other hand more power or depth of cut is needed then you are likely looking at the £789 mark. I would say this is a detail saw and intended for this type of work.

Quality Product

As usual Rutlands do it again, quality products at affordable prices. Out the box to use, under 10 minutes, and it exceeded my expectations in all ways. Build quality is very high, and instructions easy to use. Lightweight, but structurally strong, would recommend to anyone needing a scroll saw for intricate work. Delivery was as advertised and packaged well as usual. Thanks to the team at Rutlands once again.

I used to have a top German scroll saw in my old workshop, After moving to my new home and with no workshop as such, I could only keep the woodcarving side of my hobby and therefore a new scroll saw was required. This saw does the job very well so far - little noise and just a little vibration that is all. First class machine and very good value for money.

Very nice machine - my first scroll saw - but seems solidly made and versatile. The only thing I felt that I had to change was the worklight bulb which was a bit dim. Now it has an S25 led bulb, which is much better. Whiter and brighter.
