The threaded bushes are manufactured from tool steel to prevent wear and play, guaranteeing a consistent and true drilling line. The bushes are used in the two holes on the left of the jig, with the two on the right being used for non-bush drilling of 11mm and 12mm diameter holes.
Open and closing of the jig jaws is smooth and consistent and the lead screw has a fast action acme thread. This dowel jig is extremely simple to set up, precise and very well engineered. The CNC machined dowel jig is supplied with 2 x 6mm guide bushes, 2 x 8mm guide bushes and 2 x 10mm guide bushes. ©

New to joining wood with anything other than screws, dowels were a mystery to me how you get them to line up. This device is great and solves the guesswork. I bought one of the small buckets of pre made dowels and the two small drill depth stops to go with it. Very well made, small and portable. The associated bits and pieces fit in the tub the dowels came in. Really looking forward to using it for an upcoming project.
I wanted something to help make precise dowelling joints. There are similar cheaper products out there but opted for this version, which I'm pleased to say is a very good quality jig that is worth the money and works really well. The pictures don't show it very well but as a previous review has stated there are small windows with guidelines to help you line up the dowel holes where you want to drill them. This allows perfect alignment and perfect joints. I would definitely recommend this jig rather than a cheaper option.
